The Foreign Press Association has announced that the Italian Golden Globe to the career will be issued to Director Dario Argento while, the documentary “Restoring the Sky”, directed by Tommaso Santi, won the Special Jury Award. The prizes will be awarded during the ceremony held on the 14th of June 2017. The jury has decided to award the prize to “Restoring the Sky” because: “Sometimes fairytales come out of films. They carve a space in real life and show that everything is possible in today’s world; a world where people can work together harmoniously in which collaboration, cohesion and understanding have resulted in Italy’s artisan excellence and tradition restoring a piece of history shared by all humanity. A miracle in the making”.
Restoring the Sky.
Some stories are meant to be told, within them is something that’s impossible to resist. Twenty-first century Bethlehem, the restoration of the Church of the Nativity: a building-site of Italian craftsmen using old and new technologies to restore a symbol of humanity in a land that for social, political and religious reasons has always been at the center of History. The restoration began in 2013, requested by the Palestinian State and the three Churches that manage the Church of the Nativity: the Catholic, the Greek Orthodox and the Armenian Orthodox Churches. Work began with the replacement of the roof and the restoration of the church’s trusses and continued with the restoration of the Byzantine mosaics and interior walls. “Restoring the Sky ” captures what happened in this epic restoration together with the context in which it was inserted.
